Compatibility: 1987-2000 BMWs including non-US spec cars and diesels** Adaptability: May be used with an adapter (AB03 - available separately or in a Universal Package) to extend the compatible date range through 2006. Connection: R5-FCX3 connects to the round, 20-pin diagnostic port located in the engine bay** Diagnostic range: Reads and resets engine fault codes or 'Diagnostic Trouble Codes' (DTCs) that trigger the check engine light. The tool WILL NOT read or reset codes from other modules or that cause other warning lights to appear (ABS, DSC, etc...) **Important Note: Some late 2000 production date cars do not have the round 20-pin port. These vehicles require the use of an R5-FCX3-16 that connects to the 16 pin port under the dash. Please verify before ordering.
Also, all cars built after 1996 have the 16 pin port - however - if your car has the round port, that is what you must connect your Peake tool to.
